Bondi Rescue is a show about the Bondi Lifeguards on Channel 10. It is a very successful show that has been running for over 10 years. The show is very popular, being broadcast in many countries around the world, and also winning many TV Logies.
It follows the activity at the beach over summer, through the eyes of the lifeguards. Lifeguards work in paid roles provided by the council. They dress in a Blue uniform because the volunteer lifesavers wear Red and Yellow.
Lifeguards have very strong water skills. They use rescue boards, jet skis, rescue tubes, and common sense to manage water safety at the beach.
This show does a lot to raise awareness of the dangers at Bondi, because the beach can be as busy as the water!

Bondi Surf Club lifesavers work closely with the lifeguards. Our lifesaving services support their efforts because the beach gets very busy on weekends and public holiday periods.
Many surf lifesaving club members have held a summer job as a Lifeguard. First of all, you will need a Bronze medallion and other awards, finally you can attempt the Gold Medallion – see details on prerequisites here.
You can apply for a role as a Lifeguard through the Waverley Council – see here http://www.waverley.nsw.gov.au/recreation/beaches_and_coast/our_lifeguards/professional_lifeguard_recruitment
