Intro & Welcome
Friday this week sees the Club come together for one of our major fundraisers, the Bondi Legends Lunch. There are over 320 tickets sold for the event. Thank you to the organisers of the event for all the hard work you put in.
Our Club’s social scene is kicking off in a great way with the first event! Trivia Night sold out in just over a week. The team headed by Anna Darby will also be looking to add some bands monthly at bottles and a gala ball at the end of the year.
For all members, especially new members, we have worked hard to put together a handbook with as much info as possible within. It is a great reference document and will be updated further in time – Member Handbook
The first date for skin checks was booked out in a few days. As a service for our members, we will be having 2 Skin Cancer Specialist Doctors at the Club on 10 November and 24 November. The service will be bulk billed to ensure members are looked after and will be only available for current financial members at first. If there is demand and free spots, we will then open it up to family members of financial members. We would encourage all members to have regular skin checks. There are still spaces left for the second date so please go to Skin checks 24 November to book in.
See you on the beach!

Surf Sports Proficiency and Social
We will be holding our annual Bronze and SRC proficiency for surf sports competitors on Sunday 4 November. Meet at 10:45 at the patrol tent. The proficiency will start at 11:00 am.
After the proficiency, we’ll have a BBQ and social in the Club. All competitors, from cadets to masters are encouraged to attend. All members and family are welcome.
Week 5 – 21 October Results are here.
Another poor morning, with the aftermath of one of the biggest storms in recent memory. The water was dirty and messy. However, with the great assistance from the Patrol we had both buoys out and the ducky behind them with time to spare.
A Grade saw the return of Peter, who took the best alley and was never headed. Jessie was second, after a lot of hard work. And last week’s back marker Jacob steamed up the beach third, heading off a couple of hopefuls.
B Grade was a smaller field, with Allison giving the field a huge start. She did a Ziggy and gave it her all, coming in a very credible third. The winner was Ed, who negotiated a challenging surf, with Natasha a close second.
As I write this, Monday’s conditions are perfect. So there is hope for this coming Sunday morning.
Take the gamble and come down, irrespective of the conditions. The morning is fun and it’s great to be part of the oldest tradition on the beach.
P.S. Reminder that Bondi Amateur Swimming Club started its 127th season on 7 October and has races from 25m to 400m from 9.00am each Saturday morning. Attending will certainly sharpen your times and improve your surf race abilities. Free learn to swim classes for members start in November and we provide some stroke correction to members as well. If you have any queries, please speak to me or the Hallams.

Meet Australia’s Strongest Woman
Bondi SBLSC is excited to welcome Australia’s strongest Woman, Martha Tevita, on Sunday, 28 October. Come along to bottles from 5.00 to 5:30pm in the Blue Room to hear her incredible story!
Martha overcame low self-esteem, and only a few years ago was unemployed, taking drugs and weighing over 135 kilos.
To fight depression she stepped into a gym, but her shame and self-hatred meant she only trained late at night or in the early hours of the morning.
Now, Martha travels the world competing for NSW and Australia, and deadlifts 220 kilos (485lbs).
She empowers others looking to improve themselves, addressing body image and media stereotypes plus speaking on bullying, negativity and the personal breakthroughs that come with following your dreams.
Her appearance is the first of several free community talks being run over summer as a service to members.
Martha will also be holding a weightlifting demo and clinic in our gym for anyone who wants to learn the basics or improve their technique in powerliftingMartha is passionate about this free lifting session being open to all shapes, sizes and fitness levels. The session will run from 4.00-5.00pm in the gym just before her speaking event in the Blue Room.
Come and be inspired!
