Bondi Surf Race Report
Week 10- 25 November 2018
This morning was a great one for testing your skills against a heavy uneven surf, which produced some really good waves, in between some messy lulls.
A Grade saw a very close race with Andre on a wave that faded close to the shore & Rob on the wave behind him carrying to the beach, with Rob holding it winning a very tight run up the beach. Jacob come out of nowhere to beat a very slow Marty, who also held the wave, but had no legs to finish.
B Grade was also remarkable, with the majority getting around our second buoy after the first was washed in. The Ducky kept on point & the race resulted in Phil just edging out back marker Stu who is killing the handicapping. Natasha was third beating out a couple of old timers who love this type of sea. Siobhan is back in the water & looking great.
It was decided not to put the Cadets in the water, due to conditions. I’m a bit softer than the General was, in the good old days.
Next week is the Mick Shearman & all “patrolling members” should attend. The Resus component will be done straight after the races & will not take long. Winners will also get a BLUE ROOM voucher; make the racing all the more worthwhile.
I hope to see you
I look forward to a bigger rollup for next week.
BONDI AMATEUR SWIMMING CLUB – Is always looking for new members, irrespective of their ability. We can promise two things; you will improve over the season & have a lot of fun doing so. If interested, please come down by 9.15 Saturday morning & see what it is like. They also have “learn to swim classes” for any member who cannot swim & this has been extended to adults. Should you want more info, please speak to me, Raewyn or Sandra Hallam, at the races or whenever.
A big thanks to THE BLUE ROOM for their outstanding support.
