Intro & Welcome
Remember to get your renewal in while Early Bird fees are still on!
For many members, the winter months are as busy as the summer ones. Some of our busiest members with patrolling, our IRB team, have been busy in the off season getting back into competition under the leadership of Alex Ayscough. First season back and first Aussie gold medal since the late ’90s!
While the IRB team competed up at Kingscliff, the Club also fielded a team at the NSW Pool Rescue competition. Many clubs across Australia are taking these events seriously now that they’re under the SLSA banner. Our club won the Masters point score, came fifth in the Opens and fielded a good-sized nipper team under coach Laura Thurtell. What a great platform for Nationals!
Thank you to all those who attended Presentation Night at the Club. It was one of the biggest turnouts for the night that I have seen and it was great to see so many of you receive some recognition for your efforts. The major awards on the night were the Kevin Murray Memorial President’s trophy to Alex Nothling and the Mark Fischer Club Captain’s award to Felicity Macarthur.
Finally, this is my last intro as President of the greatest surf life saving club in Australia. I consider myself fortunate to have worked with many people who inspired and motivated me to keep going each year. I have no doubt that the board and next president will continue to move the Club forward and take it to the next level. No matter what role you have at our club, whether ass President or you just joined last season, the Club thrives because of the effort each of you put in. I am lucky to have joined Bondi SBLSC and love being a Bondi Lifesaver!
Thanks to Dori Miller and a number of others, the latest annual report is now available.
Please come down to the Club at 2pm this Sunday 21 July to see a new president elected, hear about the Club’s past season, details of the new renovation/rebuild and Life Member nominations. The Blue Room bar will be open afterwards.
Thank you to all members. See you on the beach.

Bondi shines at the IRB and Pool Rescue Championships
What a weekend of racing for Team Bondi!
The IRB Team had a successful campaign this season in the NSW IRB Premierships. Last weekend the team travelled to Kingscliff for the Australian IRB Champioonships. The 35+ Yrs Female Team of Nicole Krite, Ashleigh Breaden, Kristy Smith, Bradley Ellison, Isabelle Heazlewood and Kirsten Newrick (the Pink Ladies) won the gold medal. The 35+ Years Male Rescue Tube team of Damien Woods, Bradley Ellison and Rene Prochnow (Seals) took home the silver medal. The Bondi Masters team came in third place overall.
Last weekend was also the NSW Pool Rescue Championships in Woy Woy. The Nippers competed on Saturday under the guidance of coach Laura who has grown the team from one last year to 14 this year. The Masters team won the point score for the third year in a row. The Opens were 5th and only 12 points behind 3rd place.
Congratulations to all our competitors. A big thanks go to everyone who helped with logistics, coaching, timekeeping, pool setting, driving trailers and all the other work in the background so our teams can compete.

Anyone interested should email the Branch office (lifesaving) and Director of Lifesaving and Education (dol) by 26 July.

Our Patrol teams will resume duties next Season. Until then, stay safe on the beach.
Please keep an eye out for courses through the winter and prior to the 2019/2020 season.
