Bondi SBLSC Kayak Auction

Bondi SBLSC Kayak Auction

The Bondi Surf Bathers Life Saving Club is auctioning off a hand-crafted wooden kayak to raise funds for bushfire relief on NSW’s south coast. The kayak was crafted by a man who lost his own home to bushfires 35 years ago and took more than 600 hours to build. He saw the work the surf club was doing for the South Coast community and felt that selling this beautiful craft would be an amazing cause.

The kayak is being auctioned with one free month of group paddling lessons at the Sydney Harbour Surf Club (Founder Luke Horder ), and the craft can be stored for 1-3 months at the Royal Prince Edward Yacht Club (Commodore Adrian Broadbent).

The auction is running through 28 January, 2020 and already there have been bids over $5,000 – see https://app.galabid.com/bondi/
All proceeds to go to the SBLSC’s south coast surf club rebuilding communities program. Under the program, Bondi will connect south coast clubs with money and goods needed to run festivals, concerts, community events, outreach programs or other community rebuilding programs to improve tourism, economy, or community facilities the clubs think will help with rebuilding efforts.   Info on the general donation program https://bondisurfclub.com/bushfire-donation-information/
“This is a generous gift and we will use the funds raised to help South Coast Surf Clubs rebuild their communities.” – Brent Jackson, President, Bondi Surf Bathers Life Saving Club
