With summer only a week away don’t forget that alcohol and swimming don’t mix.
Many of the largest rescue days in the club’s history occurred before the “alcohol free” bans were put in place, while most people enjoyed the backpackers Christmas on the beach, in 2000 and in 2003 hundreds of rescues took place due to unruly crowds repeatedly entering the water while drunk.
While the restrictions have lead to a reduction in risk at Bondi, the current stats show that it is still dangerous around Australia to mix drinking and swimming.
