For those interested in club history, we have just launched a new section of the website with a set of scanned “Bondi Surfers” from the 1950-60 era.
In that era, the “Bondi Surfer” was a magazine read around the whole lifesaving movement, and gives an insight into many of the clubs in the country at that time, the development of lifesaving, and some interesting advertisements.
We will continue this project as we know that more copies of the Surfer are available in various archives, so we will develop this set until complete.
This collection complements the photo archive at https://bondisurfclub.com/the-club/history/heritage-images/ and the Annual Reports archive at https://bondisurfclub.com/the-club/key-stats/
This project aims to make the club history accessible to anyone with an interest in history, and if you would like to participate in any club history projects please let Tanya Mawson know as the first surf club has a lot of ground to cover!
