Join Bondi Surf Club’s very ow

Join Bondi Surf Club’s very own Poppy Staff Olsen live at Event Cinemas and hear all about her Olympic journey at the Q&A.

Growing up on Curlewis street, Poppy and her siblings were Bondi Nippers.

A child who just loved to skate from the age of eight, Poppy became the number one female bowl skater in Australia at 14 and went on to take out bronze at the XGames at 17 – the ultimate competition in the world of skateboarding.

The same year, skateboarding was announced as an official additional sport category at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Now faced with the opportunity to represent Australia on the world stage Poppy grapples with the transition from skater to athlete and the pressure of competition mounts in a way it has never done before.

A coming of age story told over 12 years, TALL POPPY documents Poppy’s journey intimately as she navigates the uncomfortable idea of what it means to be a competitive athlete, the complexities of a relationship with a mum turned manager and finding her place in a male-dominated industry.

DATE: Sunday 5 December
TIME: 4:30pm
LOCATION: Bondi Junction

Meet our Club Member Elle Kuht

Meet our Club Member Elle Kuhta!

She is presently running from Byron Bay to Bondi Beach raising funds for Surf Lifesaving Australia. She is running around 35km EVERY day on her 900km journey!

Originally from Detroit, Michigan USA, Elle has been in Australia for 5 years. ‘The idea for the run started as I began to clock miles during lockdown in 2020. I wanted to get outside and challenge my mind and body. Seeing all the beaches along the way is a great way to spread the word about SLSA!’

Right now it is incredibly challenging with all this rain. So if you have a few dollars to sponsor her incredible effort, please click the link below. She is definitely earning it!

Elle, we will look forward to welcoming you back at the club on Sunday 5th Dec!

To celebrate the return of all

To celebrate the return of all Nippers age groups this weekend, we’re having a dance party at Sunday’s Bottles this weekend… 80’s style!

Music from the 80’s and beyond will be spun by international DJ Brett Martin!

Put on your dancing shoes, crimp or tease your hair into your favourite 80’s do. Practice those ‘daggy dad dance moves’ in front of the mirror and get ready to see out another great weekend at Bondi Surf Club!

Bring the kids for an early dinner and catch up with other Members and Nipper parents.

The Blue Room bar and kitchen will be open with food served from 5pm. There will be $5 beers and $7 wines! Friends and family are welcome.

See you Sunday!
