The Belt Race is one of the most traditional of all Surf Lifesaving sports.
Before surf rescue boards Lifesavers were attached to a rope when they swam in to rescue someone. Their fellow Lifesavers on the beach pulled them and their patient back out of the water.
Today this ancient tradition is a sport of speed, accuracy and precision showcasing both sporting and lifesaving capability. Once you have completed your Bronze you could join an R and R squad.
