Month: December 2023

It’s day 3 of Bondi IRB Racing teams Intensive IRB Training Development program.
It started with some high holiday fun and team building.
And over the week program working through all event disciplines, strengthening their skills and techniques.
Great work by the IRB Racing team known as the “Kill Switch Turtles 🐢”
Todays session they negotiated a tricky shore dump and surf.
And the patients worked extremely hard on a swell and drag on the cans.
Keep up the great work and training 💪

Congratulations to our Newest

Congratulations to our Newest IRB Crew Members!

We extend a huge congratulations to five incredible young women who have successfully completed the SLSA Women in Powercraft IRB Crew Course and earned their IRB Crew Award!

Jayda Watson, Emily Leung, Charlize Smith, Jade Melvey-Lester, and Pippi Strehler – you did it! Over two challenging weekends, you demonstrated exceptional skill, determination, and resilience in mastering the IRB, an essential tool for Surf Lifesaving patrols, water safety, and search and rescue operations.

This course, specifically designed for female members aged 15-20, was made possible with the generous support of SLSA and the Geoffrey Evans Trust. Under the expert guidance of mentor trainer Nixy Krite , and trainee trainers Kristy Smith, Julie Pritchard , and Sarah Chard, you honed your skills and excelled in every aspect of IRB operation, culminating in outstanding performances during your assessments.

Bondi Surf Bathers Life Saving Club is proud to have hosted this impactful program, which not only equips these young women with valuable lifesaving skills but also addresses the underrepresentation of women in IRB roles. Your dedication and achievement are an inspiration to others, and we are confident you will make significant contributions to our lifesaving community.

Once again, congratulations to Jayda, Emily, Charlize, Jade, and Pippi! We are incredibly proud of you and excited to see you continue your journeys in the surf lifesaving powercraft spaces.

A special thank you to the Geoffrey Evans Trust for their unwavering support of this crucial training initiative. Together, we are empowering the next generation of female lifesavers and ensuring the safety of our beaches for years to come.

We wish these remarkable young women all the very best in their future life saving endeavors!
