The Bondi Patrol Podcast: Episode 18: Grant Baldock: Nippers Age Manager,
Life Member

“Surf Life Saving gives you Leadership skills for life”

Grant joined Bondi Surf Club as a 13 year old obtaining his Surf Rescue
Certificate in 1988 (the same time as Harries!), he is a four time Australian
Champion, the youngest ever Patrol Captain at 18, and lead Organiser of The
Legends Lunch, an annual fundraiser for our Club that has raised over $250k.
Grant was awarded Life Membership on Bondi Surf Club in 2023.

In this episode we discuss how Grant worked his way through various roles at
the Club to become a Life Member, the importance of giving back, the
importance of physical and mental health, Grant’s sadness at the passing of
Louise Santos, who was made life member at the same time as Grant, and
much more.

🌈 Rainbow beaches! 🌈

Thanks to everyone who came down to show their support today! There was such fantastic energy and support from everyone who came down. We have to give a special mention to Tim Read for these absolutely incredible photos! And to Mostyn Sumner for organising the event, and to our Patrols of Basso and Bessemo who welcomed us.

What is Rainbow Beaches? It’s a national campaign to showcase how surf clubs are showing support for the LGBTQIA+ community.

For us, specifically today, it had the simple aim of highlighting to our local Bondi community that everyone is welcome at Bondi Surf Bathers Lifesaving Club.

Diversity is what makes each of us special. It’s the heartbeat of vibrant communities. Inclusion is how we make that heartbeat strong and steady.

So let’s keep pushing forward, making a promise to be a community where everyone is welcome.

🌈 “The ocean doesn’t discriminate, and neither does Surf Life Saving” 🌈

Thanks for being part of this great club!

International Women’s Day – Pi

International Women’s Day – Pink Patrol – 2024
Bondi Surf Club will be running our yearly Pink Patrol.
This event will help raise awareness about the various roles and opportunities available to women in lifesaving, helping to empower females to build their operational capability and capacity. The aim is to increase the number of women actively patrolling, as well as see more women represented across all facets of lifesaving.
Last year saw 100 women patrolling across our Beautiful Bondi Beach and we welcome all members across all clubs again to participate.
The RWC, IRB, and many other opportunities will be experienced over the morning patrol while keeping our community safe.
Register in the link below before the 24th February 2024.
