Volunteer with Bondi Nippers
Bondi Nippers is entirely volunteer-run! We always need more helpers and would love to welcome you to the team.
Every week we need volunteers to set up the beach, staff the BBQ and pack down at the end. You will receive volunteer requests via Stack Team App and we rely on each family to volunteer at least three times per season.

We rely on volunteers for the following roles:
- Age Manager / Age Manager Assistant
- Water Safety
- Official Duties
- Admin
Some of these roles require further training, but regardless of which role you’re interested, you’ll need to: be a registered “Nipper Parent/Carer” or a club member, get your Working With Children Check, and do some child safety training.

1. Get Started with Bondi Nippers:
Become a club member
Membership is required for insurance purposes.
If you are registered as a "Nipper Parent/Carer" already, skip this step.
Get a Working With Children Check
Get your clearance to work with children.
Apply for your free Working With Children Check with Service NSW.
Do the Child Safety Training
Learn how to keep our nippers safe.
Complete the free Child Safe Awareness online training on the SLS Hub.
2. Choose Your Role:
Age Manager / Assistant
What You Do
Our Age Managers run each session with the help of a group of Age Manager Assistants. You’ll be running the activities and educating our nippers.
When You Help
Most of your work is on Sundays at Nippers:
– Signing Nippers in & out
– Running the 1 hour session
We also need at least one Age Manager or Assistant per age group at Carnivals.
What You Need
To become an Age Manager or Age Manager Assistant, you need to do the Age Manager course (sign in using your SLS Hub details).
A Bronze Medallion is also highly valued but not compulsory.
Water Safety
What You Do
Our Water Safety team keep our nippers safe in the water. Water Safety is one of the most important volunteer parent roles we have at nippers and it requires a high level of commitment.
When You Help
To maintain your Bronze Medallion, you need to do at least 40 hours per season of water safety.
You can choose to do your hours:
– At Nippers on Sunday
– At Carnivals (note, you can usually ask to be allocated to the water area your child is competing in)
What You Need
To help out with Water Safety, you will need to have your Bronze Medallion. Nipper parents are entitled to a discount on the Bronze Medallion fee – contact info@bondisurfclub.com for the discount code.
Official Duties
What You Do
A big part of Nippers is competing at carnivals. In order to enter our Nippers at these carnivals, we need referees, starters, judges and more.
When You Help
At Club Champs and at carnivals, such as Branch Championships and State Championships.
Note, you can usually nominate the age group areas and roles you would like to officiate in, so that you can watch your child compete.
What You Need
You need to do an online course (sign in using your SLS Hub details) plus practical training at carnivals.
Bondi Nippers will reimburse you for the course fees.
Admin
What You Do
Can’t commit to any of the above? We also need parents to help with sign in & out, team communication and various other admin tasks.
When You Help
You can help out on Sundays with sign in and out OR you can help out behind the scenes. You let us know how much time you can commit, and we’ll let you know how we can use you!

Nothing beyond club membership, your WWCC and the Child Safety Course!
